Background:

New partnership established to help people in Alberta access non-vulnerable sector criminal record checks.

Taber Police has partnered with Forrest Green, Canada’s largest provider of virtual front counters for municipal police to allow access to an online record check services (non-Vulnerable Sector) in Alberta.

Today, third party record check companies advertise online and keep 100% of the revenue that would otherwise go to Alberta municipalities.  As more and more citizens demand online and timely solutions it becomes challenging for communities supported by the RCMP who do not offer online solutions until now.

Goal:

Taber Police and Forrest Green will partner with other municipalities to share in the revenue and keep jobs in Alberta.  There is no cost or out of pocket expenses.

How does it work:

Municipalities that sign the MOU, and enter the partnership, will share a link to the Taber Police Service Virtual Front Counter on their Town/City website which will allow residents to access the system.    This will allow people in remote areas, and others who want the convenience of completing non-vs record checks virtually, the ability to do so online.  This is not new, however what is new is that the profits from the program, other than the convenience fee applied to use the software, stay within municipalities in Alberta.

Forrest Green and Taber Police have two (2) booths (623 and 625) at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities conference June 7 to 9 in Calgary to answer any questions and promote the service.
