The Town’s Transfer Station is located just west of the town boundary (½ mile south and west of MD Park on Hwy 864). Go west on 64 Avenue until you reach Hwy 864 – you will see the entrance.

Weather Information & Impacts to Transfer Station

The Transfer Station will be closed for service during the following weather conditions:

• When sustained wind speeds reach 70km/h or higher;
• When persistent wind gusts are 65km/h or higher;
• When a High Wind Advisory or Wind Warning has been issued for Taber by Environment and Climate Change Canada;
• When excessive moisture (rain, snow, flooding, etc.) has impacted the Transfer Station road to such an extent that Town crews are unable to maintain the road for traffic safety.

When the Transfer Station has to close, temporary signage stating the same will be posted for users to see. The Town will also post notices on our channels.

The Transfer Station may reopen during business hours if strong wind speeds subside, or road conditions improve. If this is the case, the Town will make this known to the public on our channels.

In case of windy conditions or severely wet weather, we recommend citizens check our channels or call ahead (403-223-5569 or the Shop at 403-223-6018 during regular Town business hours) to determine if the Transfer Station is open before they come to the facility.

Coupon Voucher System

The Town initiated a coupon voucher system instead of our former back-alley cleanup. Instead of having Town crews collecting waste from the alleys once a year, the Town annually offers households vouchers to cover some of the disposal fees for large items that need to be taken to the Transfer Station. These coupons can be used for additional waste that is generated due to spring cleaning, renovations, etc. The coupons/vouchers are free. Learn more:
