Mayor's Message
A Message from Mayor Henk De Vlieger
On behalf of Council and the Citizens of Taber, welcome to our Town website. We hope you will take the time to browse through it, and see what our Town has to offer you.

Taber is a safe, friendly, vibrant, innovative, caring and giving community with lots to offer aimed at people of all ages, from work, to leisure time, to retirement.
Our Town is in the heart of Southern Alberta's rich agricultural region. It is located at the intersection of two major highways, Highway 3 running east to west, and Highway 36, running north to south. These two major transportation corridors offer excellent access for business and recreational travel. We are also a short drive from major centres, recreational areas in the Rocky Mountains and the Canada/US Border.

We have a number of new and growing residential neighbourhoods, an excellent choice of schools, the most up-to-date medical centre, a hospital, assisted living facilities, and a selection of retail and hospitality services. In addition to these services, residents can take advantage of our many recreational services that are available to enjoy every season of the year.
  Mayor Henk De Vlieger
Because of our location, Taber has a very stable and diverse economy. Our community services a large agricultural area made possible from our favourable weather, abundance of sunshine and irrigation which is suitable for cereal and row crops as well as other specialty products. We are also home to a number of food processing plants such as Lantic Sugar, Hostess FritoLay and Lucerne Foods. Other processing plants such as Lamb Weston and McCains are close by.

We are also a central business location for the oil, gas and wind power generation servicing industries. Because of the highway connections and the close proximity to the US Border, Taber is an excellent place to locate your business. We offer a variety of industrial properties that can be designed to service your needs.

We are known across the country for our famous Taber Corn, which we celebrate at our annual Cornfest which is held in late August of each year.

Again, thank you for showing interest in our Community. If you have any questions or would like to receive more information about our Town, please contact the Town Administration Office. We will do whatever we can to help you make Taber your home. Welcome!
